After weeks of striking, Auburn Correctional Facility officers returned to work under difficult circumstances, but community support remained strong. Local business owner Tonya DeTomaso told WSYR while standing outside the prison she had concerns over their working conditions.
Many in the community, including employees at Curley’s restaurant, showed appreciation for the officers. Server Kailea Sharpsteen ensured they were fed, even making special deliveries despite the pub not offering the service. Residents believe these officers deserve recognition for their years of service.
Supporters vow to continue standing by the officers as they navigate the post-strike reality.
