A Canandaigua woman was arrested Friday morning after allegedly stealing merchandise from a local grocery store.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a larceny complaint at Tops Market in the Town of Canandaigua around 11:20 a.m. An investigation revealed that Claire Elle Keating, 41, had been observed selecting and concealing items worth $165.67 before leaving the store without paying.

Keating, a resident of West Gibson Street in Canandaigua, was taken into custody and charged with petit larceny. She was also issued a trespass notice, barring her from returning to the store.

Following her arrest, Keating was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge in the Town of Canandaigua court at a later date.
