For the second time in three days, the Syracuse men’s basketball team let a double-digit second-half lead slip away, this time falling 77-75 to SMU on a last-second tip-in on Tuesday night at Moody Coliseum.
With just over two seconds left, Keon Ambrose-Hylton put back a missed shot from Boopie Miller, breaking a 75-75 tie and giving the Mustangs (22-8, 13-6 ACC) the win. Syracuse (12-18, 6-13 ACC) was unable to get a final shot off before time expired.
Lucas Taylor led the Orange with 13 points, while Jaquan Carlos contributed 12 points and eight assists. Chris Bell added 11 points off the bench, and J.J. Starling, Eddie Lampkin Jr., and Kyle Cuffe Jr. each finished with 10.
