A new exhibit exploring the history of Seneca Lake and the Erie Canal will open in Montour Falls on March 2, featuring a historical talk and reception hosted by the Schuyler County Historical Society.
Derrick Pratt from the Erie Canal Museum will present “Immigration on the Erie Canal” at 2 p.m. at the Montour Falls Fire Department, highlighting the contributions of immigrants to the canal’s construction and culture. Following the talk, the exhibit’s grand opening will be held at the Brick Tavern Museum from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The exhibit runs until November, with additional traveling displays arriving in April and August. Admission is free, offering visitors a chance to explore 200 years of canal history.
