Victor teacher charged with felony rape after joint investigation

A Victor Central School District teacher has been charged with rape following an investigation by multiple Ontario County agencies.

David W. Porter, 66, of Victor, was arrested and charged with third-degree rape, a Class E felony. Authorities allege that Porter engaged in sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 17 in December.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, and Child Protective Services conducted the investigation, which resulted in Porter’s arraignment on Saturday. He was released on his own recognizance despite objections from prosecutors. A judge issued an order of protection for the victim, and Porter is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Porter, a high school teacher at Victor Central Schools, has been placed on leave. While the victim is a student, officials confirmed they were not in Porter’s class, and there is no evidence the incident occurred on school property. The school district has moved to suspend Porter’s teaching certificate.

“These circumstances are distressing. The safety and well-being of our school community is of the highest importance,” said Superintendent Dr. Timothy Terranova. He added that additional support would be available for students and staff beginning Monday.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the school district pledging full cooperation with law enforcement.
