NY corrections officers await state’s offer to end strike

After three days of mediation, the union representing New York corrections officers expects the state to present a formal offer to end the ongoing strike. While details remain undisclosed, NYSCOPBA plans to share the offer with striking guards once received.

Thousands of prison guards, including those at Elmira Correctional Facility, have been on strike since February 17, protesting unsafe working conditions. The work stoppage has drawn widespread attention to state policies affecting correctional staff.

As negotiations continue, the outcome of the expected offer could determine the strike’s resolution. Union leaders remain firm in their demands for improved safety and working conditions.
