A Ledyard man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after failing to stop at a stop sign and crashing his vehicle into a ditch, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Brian Schenck reported that deputies arrested 21-year-old Russell X. Lampman on February 24 at 9:32 p.m. He was charged with DWI (first offense), operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of .08% or higher (first offense), and additional vehicle and traffic violations.
The arrest followed an incident at 8:52 p.m. when a deputy observed a vehicle run a stop sign at the intersection of Routes 34 and 90. The vehicle then crossed over the white fog line while traveling west on Route 90. When the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver lost control and veered into a ditch on the south side of the roadway.
Upon further investigation, Lampman was taken into custody for DWI. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office, where he provided a breath sample showing a BAC of .11%.
Lampman was issued tickets and is scheduled to appear in Genoa Town Court on March 4 at 7 p.m.
