Wayne County ambulance base, public works director honored

Wayne County’s new EMS ambulance base and Public Works Director Kevin Rooney have received recognition from the American Public Works Association’s Genesee Valley branch, The Finger Lakes Times reports. The $7 million facility won the 2024 Project of the Year award, while Rooney was named Public Works Leader of the Year.

The facility, part of a countywide EMS expansion, was praised for its functionality and supportive environment for first responders. Deputy Public Works Director Scott Kolczynski played a key role in its development.

Rooney and Kolczynski expressed gratitude for the honors, which were presented at the APWA Awards Banquet on Jan. 30. County officials commended their leadership and contributions to public service.
