J.J. Starling led Syracuse with 17 points as the Orange defeated NC State, 74-60, at the JMA Wireless Dome on Wednesday night.
Syracuse (12-16, 6-11 ACC) shot an impressive 58% from the field, with eight of nine players contributing to the scoring. Eddie Lampkin Jr. secured his 12th double-double of the season with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Jyare Davis added 15 points.
A balanced offensive attack helped the Orange jump out to a 28-12 lead early, and they carried a 38-25 advantage into halftime, never looking back.
Syracuse maintained a double-digit lead for most of the second half, despite NC State narrowing the gap to eight points midway through. The Orange responded with a 7-0 run, highlighted by baskets from Lampkin and Starling, to restore their lead to 15 points. They held a comfortable advantage for the final 8:17.
