Russia offers U.S. mineral deal in occupied Ukraine

Russia has proposed allowing the U.S. to access rare earth minerals in Ukrainian territories under Moscow’s control, appealing to Trump’s interest in Ukraine’s resources. The offer was discussed during a recent meeting between U.S. and Russian officials in Saudi Arabia.

Trump has not committed to the deal but has expressed openness to economic agreements with Russia, linking them to his vision for ending the Ukraine war. Meanwhile, Kyiv is finalizing its own mineral deal with the U.S., hoping to secure continued military support.

If accepted, Russia’s proposal could legitimize its occupation of Ukrainian land while giving the U.S. financial stakes in the region, raising geopolitical and ethical concerns.
