The IRS issued $1,400 stimulus payments to eligible taxpayers who didn’t claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax returns. Most payments were sent automatically via direct deposit or mailed checks.
However, taxpayers who never filed a 2021 return may still qualify. To claim the payment, they must file by April 15, 2025, and request the Recovery Rebate Credit. Even those with little or no income may be eligible.
The IRS advises taxpayers to check their online accounts to verify past stimulus payments and determine their refund eligibility before the deadline.
