The Buffalo Sabres (24-27-5) staged a thrilling comeback with three unanswered goals in the third period to notch a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks (25-25-7) at KeyBank Center on Tuesday night.
JJ Peterka, Alex Tuch, and Henri Jokiharju found the back of the net, while Dylan Cozens orchestrated the offense with three assists. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 16 saves to help the Sabres improve to 6-1-0 in their last seven games.
Down 2-0 entering the final period, Peterka ignited the rally at 1:56 with a one-timer from the right circle off a quick feed from Cozens. The momentum continued when Tuch tied the game 2-2 at 5:34, jamming in his own rebound after looping behind the net to finish the play at the left post. Just minutes later, Jokiharju completed the comeback with a wrist shot under the crossbar at 9:31, giving Buffalo its first lead of the night.
Anaheim had built an early advantage with power-play goals from Mason McTavish and Leo Carlsson. Despite Lukas Dostal’s 32 saves, the Ducks couldn’t hold off Buffalo’s third-period surge.
The Sabres look to continue their hot stretch when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday at 7 p.m.
