Denny’s may add egg surcharge amid shortages

Denny’s has announced that some locations will add a surcharge on meals containing eggs due to rising costs from a nationwide egg shortage caused by bird flu. The company has not specified which locations will be affected, including whether the Geneva and Canandaigua restaurants will implement the extra charge.

The decision follows a similar move by Waffle House, though Cracker Barrel has opted not to raise its egg prices. The cost of eggs has surged, reaching nearly $5 per dozen, and experts predict prices may remain high due to ongoing supply disruptions.

Denny’s and Waffle House have said the surcharge is temporary but have not given a timeline for its removal. The diner chain reassures customers it remains committed to value pricing despite market challenges.
