The Seneca County Board of Supervisors is set to convene for a series of committee meetings on Tuesday, February 25, beginning at 6 p.m. at the county offices. The meetings will cover a wide range of topics, including public safety, infrastructure projects, and economic development.
Ahead of the regular committee sessions, a special Public Safety and Criminal Justice meeting will take place at 5 p.m. to discuss the future of ambulance services in North and South Seneca.
Among the key issues on the agenda:
- Health and Human Services will review grants from the New York State Department of Health, including funding for tobacco enforcement, immunization programs, and water quality enhancements.
- Agriculture and Environmental Affairs will appoint a new agriculture-business representative and reappoint a farmer representative to the Seneca County Agriculture Enhancement Board.
- Water & Sewer Treatment Management will discuss easements to facilitate a water interconnection between the Village of Waterloo and the Town of Seneca Falls, as well as authorizing bids for the Route 414 Sewer Manhole Rehabilitation Project.
- Public Safety and Criminal Justice will review intermunicipal agreements for housing incarcerated individuals from other counties, the renewal of office space for the Sheriff’s Department at the Waterloo Premium Outlets, and grant applications for law enforcement training and emergency response funding.
- Public Works will consider the purchase of two 2024 Navistar HV613 ten-wheelers, an agreement with Stark Tech for generator and HVAC services, and the approval of a yearly service contract for building management systems.
- Economic Development, Tourism, and Housing will review funding for the redevelopment of the Village of Ovid following a devastating fire, approve grant applications for snowmobile trail maintenance, and proclaim April 2025 as Fair Housing Month.
The committee meetings will provide an opportunity for discussion and public feedback on these issues before they move to the full Board of Supervisors for final approval.
Seneca County Board of Supervisors schedules special meeting
The Supervisors will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. just before the regularly scheduled committee meetings.
One of the key items on the agenda is a resolution authorizing the purchase of two 2024 Navistar HV613 ten-wheelers for the county’s highway department. The $651,880 purchase, which has been budgeted under the county’s 2024 Highway Road Machinery Vehicle Account, was reviewed and approved by the Public Works Standing Committee earlier that day.
The board will also address any unfinished business and consider new matters that may arise during the meeting. No additional agenda items have been disclosed at this time.
This special session is part of a busy evening for the board, which will also hold a special Public Safety and Criminal Justice Committee meeting at 5 p.m. to discuss the future of ambulance services in North and South Seneca.
