Schuyler County launches Schuypreneur Boot Camp to support local entrepreneurs

The Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development (SCOPED) is reviving its entrepreneurial boot camp under the new Schuypreneur brand, with the first session set to launch on February 26 in Watkins Glen. The program, aimed at equipping aspiring business owners with the skills and resources needed for success, will be hosted at FLX Works, a coworking and incubator space in downtown Watkins Glen.

The Schuypreneur Boot Camp is a continuation of the county’s original boot camps held from 2016 to 2019, with a renewed focus on hands-on training, mentorship, and collaboration. Participants will engage in expert-led workshops covering key business topics such as idea validation, business planning, marketing, finance, and growth strategies.

Brad Treat, an Entrepreneur in Residence with the Southern Tier Startup Alliance, will lead the monthly sessions. Treat emphasized the program’s flexibility, noting that it is designed to meet entrepreneurs wherever they are in their journey—whether they are refining an idea, preparing to launch, or looking to scale an existing business.

“On behalf of the Southern Tier Startup Alliance, we are excited to equip entrepreneurs with the tools they need to thrive through the Schuypreneur Boot Camp program,” Treat said.

Assisting in the program is Kerri Green, Senior Economic & Community Development Specialist at SCOPED. Green highlighted the program’s potential to support a wide range of business needs, from startup guidance to financing and succession planning.

“This program will be a helpful resource for all,” Green said. “To bring this work into a group environment where we can learn from each other, provide guidance and support, and hopefully foster new businesses in Schuyler County is an exciting opportunity.”

The Schuypreneur Boot Camp will be free and held on the last Wednesday of each month at FLX Works, located at 216 N. Franklin Street in Watkins Glen. While registration is not required, organizers encourage participants to sign up in advance to tailor sessions to their needs.

SCOPED continues to focus on fostering economic growth in Schuyler County, believing in entrepreneurship’s power to transform communities. More information about the program, including registration details, can be found at FLXGateway.com.
