Phelps solar project gets green light on environment

  • Staff Report

The Phelps Planning Board has determined that the proposed Crossroad Community Solar Project will not cause significant environmental harm. Acting as the lead agency under New York’s SEQRA process, the board issued a negative declaration to the state Department of Environmental Conservation, allowing the project to move forward.

TCTEC Solar LLC plans to build a 3.4-megawatt solar facility on 15 acres of a 25-acre parcel in Phelps. The project includes solar panels, inverters, transformers, an access road, and a perimeter fence. A 20-foot vegetative buffer will surround the site.

The facility, located on Cross Road, will connect to the regional power grid. For more details, residents can contact Samantha Minns at the Phelps town office.
