A routine traffic stop in Bath on Sunday night led to the arrest of two passengers after authorities discovered drugs and an outstanding warrant.
At approximately 10:39 p.m. on East William Street, New York State Police pulled over a vehicle for traffic violations. Bath Police arrived to assist and identified the driver as 60-year-old Joseph L. Burleson of Savona. Two passengers, Robert E. Wright, 42, of Campbell, and Terry L. Bulkley, 44, of Bath, were also in the vehicle.
While exiting the vehicle, officers noticed drug paraphernalia on the floorboard. A further search uncovered one gram of suspected methamphetamine, methamphetamine residue, Suboxone tablets without a prescription, digital scales, and additional drug paraphernalia.
Wright was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Bulkley was found to have an active warrant from the Corning Police Department and was transferred to Bath PD.
Both men were processed at SP Bath and taken to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment in CAP Court on Monday morning.
