Hornell McDonald’s closed after snow damage to roof

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

The McDonald’s on state Route 36 in Hornell shut down Sunday after roof leaks, likely caused by snow and ice buildup, led city officials to declare the building unsafe. Customers were inside when water began dripping from the ceiling, prompting the Hornell Fire Department to respond.

Employees quickly worked to protect the restaurant’s interior before evacuating. City officials posted a no-occupancy order, prohibiting entry until repairs are completed. The restaurant remains closed indefinitely.

A contractor is expected to assess the damage, but no timeline for reopening has been announced. McDonald’s has not issued a statement regarding the closure.
