American Heart Association and Rochester Regional Health to provide CPR training kits to Wayne County schools

The American Heart Association, in partnership with Rochester Regional Health, is equipping Wayne County schools with lifesaving skills. The organizations will present Hands-Only CPR training kits to all ten school districts in the county, with a special presentation scheduled for Tuesday during halftime of the Newark vs. Palmyra-Macedon basketball game.

With nearly 75% of cardiac arrests outside hospitals occurring at home, the initiative aims to prepare students to respond effectively in emergencies. Research shows that performing CPR immediately can double or even triple a victim’s chances of survival.

The CPR in Schools Training Kitsâ„¢ will allow students to learn the fundamentals of CPR, AED use, and choking relief in just one class period. By providing these kits, the American Heart Association and Rochester Regional Health hope to empower students with essential skills that could one day save lives in their communities.

The event will take place at Palmyra-Macedon High School, reinforcing the importance of early intervention in cardiac emergencies.
