Trump ends COVID-19 vaccine mandates in schools

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

President Donald Trump issued an executive order prohibiting federal funds from supporting schools that require COVID-19 vaccinations for students.

The order directs the Department of Education to issue guidelines reinforcing parental rights, religious freedom, and disability accommodations. Within 90 days, the agency must present a plan to end vaccine mandates, including identifying non-compliant schools and restricting their federal funding.

Citing the low risk of severe COVID-19 illness in children and young adults, the administration calls such mandates an infringement on personal freedom and parental authority. The directive aims to ensure access to education without vaccination requirements.
