A structure fire early Sunday morning in Seneca Falls reduced a residence under construction to a total loss.
At approximately 3 a.m. the Seneca County 911 Center received a report of a fire at 4 Mechanic Street. Emergency responders, including the Seneca Falls Police Department, Seneca Falls Fire Department, and mutual aid units from the Waterloo and Fayette Fire Departments, arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames. North Seneca Ambulance also provided support.
Firefighters encountered intense flames and a collapsed section of the roof upon arrival. Crews worked for over two hours to contain and extinguish the fire. By 5:30 a.m., the blaze was under control, though overhaul operations continued to prevent flareups.
No injuries were reported, as the structure was unoccupied and still under construction at the time of the fire. However, the building was declared a total loss.
The Seneca County Fire Investigation Team responded to the scene, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
