President Donald Trump declared Monday that if hostages held by Hamas are not released by Saturday, he would view the ceasefire with Israel as void and support resuming military action. He emphasized that Israel would make the final decision but warned Hamas of U.S. consequences if hostages remain detained.
Trump also reiterated his controversial plan for U.S. “ownership” of Gaza, proposing resettlement of Palestinians outside the territory. Arab nations, including Egypt and Jordan, rejected the plan, citing security concerns and the right of return for Palestinian refugees. Trump’s threats to withhold U.S. aid have strained diplomatic relations.
Meanwhile, families of hostages urged faster negotiations, while Hamas criticized Trump’s approach as detached from the region’s realities.
