New York lawmakers reintroduce bill to curb ICE collaboration

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

State legislators Andrew Gounardes and Karines Reyes have reintroduced the “New York for All Act” to limit ICE’s access to local resources without a judge’s order.

The bill seeks to protect immigrant communities from overreach by restricting ICE’s ability to enter schools, shelters, and other sensitive locations.

The act would prevent local and state employees from using public resources for immigration enforcement and require detailed tracking and reporting of ICE interactions. It also mandates consent forms and prohibits the collection or sharing of immigration status data.

Advocates stress that the bill would enhance trust between immigrants and law enforcement.
