Auburn woman banned from Wegmans accused of stealing again

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

Auburn police arrested a local woman after she allegedly tried to steal nearly $200 worth of groceries from Wegmans. Officers were alerted by store security, who had detained Michelle Declerck for trespassing and theft.

Police reported that Declerck, banned from the property since September 2024, attempted to leave with $198.05 in unpaid items, including New York strip steaks and ribeyes. Because she committed a crime while trespassing, she was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and petit larceny.

Declerck was arraigned at Cayuga County Jail, where bail was set at $100. She posted bail following the arraignment.
