Bill aims to boost New York’s craft beverage industry

State Sen. Pat Fahy introduced a bill allowing New Yorkers to buy state-produced alcohol from select restaurants, aiming to support the state’s craft food and beverage sector. Fahy emphasized the legislation’s importance as businesses continue to face economic hardships.

The bill prioritizes aiding independent, New York-based restaurants over corporate chains. However, Fahy acknowledged that strong opposition from distributors and liquor stores could hinder its passage.

She stressed that the proposal seeks greater flexibility within the state’s Alcohol Beverage Control Law to promote local products.
