Two Auburn residents have been sentenced for illegal firearm and drug possession following investigations by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force.
Walter Leonard, 45, pled guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C armed violent felony. In August 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Leonard’s residence, recovering a loaded .380 caliber pistol and over half an ounce of cocaine. He was sentenced on February 4, 2025, by Judge J. Budelmann to seven years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
In a separate case, Overly Deloach, 34, was sentenced in January 2024 after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, a Class A-I felony. During a search of Deloach’s home, police discovered more than eight ounces of cocaine and a loaded 9mm pistol. Judge Thomas G. Leone sentenced Deloach to eight years in prison with five years of post-release supervision on each charge, to run concurrently.
Both men were apprehended as part of an investigation into the sale and possession of narcotics. District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci prosecuted the cases.
