Auburn inmate pleads guilty to judge death threats

An inmate at Auburn Correctional Facility admitted Tuesday to sending a letter threatening to kill two New York judges, federal prosecutors reported.

Christopher McCarty, 33, mailed the letter to Gov. Kathy Hochul in May 2023, blaming the judges for his imprisonment.

McCarty, incarcerated for a 2021 robbery conviction, now faces up to five additional years in prison and a possible $250,000 fine.

His sentencing is scheduled for June 10, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
