  • Staff Report

A medevac jet carrying six people crashed near the Roosevelt Mall in northeast Philadelphia on Friday evening, sparking a massive fire and injuring several residents. The Learjet 55, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, went down shortly after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. Authorities have not confirmed any survivors, and the total number of fatalities remains uncertain.

The crash damaged multiple homes and vehicles, according to Mayor Cherelle Parker. Witnesses described a loud explosion and a fiery scene. Temple University Hospital treated six patients, with three released and three in fair condition.

Emergency crews established a perimeter as the FAA and NTSB launched an investigation. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro has offered state support.
