Man faces multiple charges after fleeing officers in Ontario County

  • Staff Report

A 35-year-old Rochester man was arrested early Monday morning for fleeing from law enforcement and other charges stemming from an incident earlier this month.

Jarod A. Thompson, of Pearl Street in Rochester, was apprehended by Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies at approximately 12:10 AM on Wednesday at 116 Buffalo Street in Canandaigua. He faces charges of Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree.

The charges stem from a January 18, 2025, traffic stop attempt in the Town of Phelps. Deputies report that Thompson failed to pull over when signaled, instead driving recklessly to evade capture. In addition to the original charges, Thompson is also facing charges of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving, Inadequate Exhaust, and Failure to Comply with a Police Officer.

Thompson was transported to the Ontario County Jail for processing and later released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Phelps Town Court at a later date to answer to the charges.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the matter.
