Langworthy discusses ICE operations under Trump policies

  • Staff Report

U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy met with Buffalo ICE officials Tuesday to review how President Donald Trump’s executive orders have impacted enforcement. He emphasized that ICE is focused on detaining convicted criminals and national security threats, denying claims that the agency targets children or schools.

Langworthy blamed New York’s Greenlight Law, which restricts federal access to DMV databases, for hampering ICE operations. He urged Gov. Kathy Hochul to repeal it, arguing it puts communities at risk. He and Rep. Claudia Tenney are pushing legislation to withhold federal funds if the state does not comply.

The congressman also highlighted concerns over national security threats at the northern border, stating that enforcement efforts will take time but remain a priority for the Trump administration and Republican-led Congress.
