Genoa FD responds to two calls in one night

The Genoa Volunteer Fire Department assisted King Ferry Fire Department on Jan. 27 for a reported gas leak on Mahaney Road.

After investigation, it was determined there was no leak—only an overheated control panel. Crews cleared the scene within an hour.

Earlier that evening, Genoa Fire responded to a possible chimney fire on Genoa Locke Townline Road, which was found to be a malfunctioning wood stove. Mutual aid was held back except for Genoa Engine 1.

Both incidents were resolved safely, with no fire or injuries reported.
