Seneca Falls café owner rebrands coffee roasting business in honor of late husband

Casey Galloway, owner of the beloved Café 19 in Seneca Falls, has rebranded her recently purchased coffee roasting company to honor her late husband, Chris Galloway. Formerly known as Cobblestone Coffee Roasters, the business is now called Elemental Coffee Lab, a name inspired by Chris’s love for science and coffee.

Casey acquired the business in November 2024 from John and Melissa Nesbit, but just weeks before the purchase was finalized, Chris, her husband and business partner, passed away unexpectedly. A trained scientist with degrees in biology and chemistry, Chris’s passion for discovery and exceptional coffee now serves as the foundation for Elemental Coffee Lab’s mission.

“At Elemental Coffee Lab, we honor the legacy of Chris Galloway, whose passion for science and discovery inspired us to create a coffee experience grounded in curiosity and craftsmanship,” Casey shared. “We combine the precision of chemistry with the art of roasting to produce exceptional coffee and celebrate the connections it creates in every cup.”

Casey brings years of experience as a trained chef and entrepreneur to the coffee roasting business. Café 19, her flagship business, has been a local favorite since 2013, known for its quality, consistency, and warm atmosphere. The addition of Elemental Coffee Lab reflects her continued commitment to excellence and expansion into coffee roasting.

The Galloways’ daughter, Rylee, who is preparing to attend college to study business, plans to support her mother in running both ventures.

To celebrate the rebrand, Elemental Coffee Lab is hosting a special “Behind the Beans” event at Café 19 on Saturday, March 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. Guests will have the chance to meet the company’s coffee roaster, enjoy coffee samples and treats, take advantage of a coffee bean sale, and enter prize giveaways.
