Wesley Hines has been recognized as the 2024 Penn Yan Police Officer of the Year.
Originally from South Carolina, Hines began his law enforcement career in 2019, joining the Penn Yan Police Department part-time before transitioning to full-time roles in Watkins Glen and later Penn Yan.
Penn Yan Police Chief Thomas Dunham praised Hines for his dedication, positive attitude, and willingness to go beyond expectations.
In 2024, Hines led the department in arrests, tickets, and DWIs. The award reflects peer recognition for exceptional service and professional excellence within the department.
