Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced significant Russian and North Korean troop losses near the village of Makhnovka in Russia’s Kursk region, following intense battles with Ukrainian forces.
Zelenskiy cited reports indicating up to a battalion of North Korean and Russian troops were lost in the fighting. He also noted extreme measures by North Korean forces to avoid capture, including alleged executions by their own units.
Meanwhile, fierce clashes continue along Ukraine’s 1,000-km frontline, with Pokrovsk remaining the most contested area as Russian forces attempt to cut Ukrainian supply routes.
