Tompkins County announced plans to restructure its Office of Human Rights, temporarily closing its West State Street location and relocating its sole staff member to the County Administration building.
Director Dr. Kenneth Clarke has departed, and a yet-to-be-named working group will oversee the restructuring process. The Human Rights Commission will hold office hours during the transition, with services expected to continue uninterrupted.
The office, which facilitates community events and liaises with the NYS Division of Human Rights, narrowly avoided closure during recent budget talks. Further updates on the restructuring are anticipated in the coming months.
