In a historic decision, Macedon Town Supervisor Kim Leonard was elected chair of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors during their annual organizational meeting on Thursday.
Leonard narrowly defeated Walworth Supervisor Mike Donalty in a closely contested vote. She succeeds Tony Verno, the outgoing chair and former Williamson Town Supervisor.
As the first woman to hold this leadership position, Leonard’s election marks a significant milestone for Wayne County governance. Her leadership is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the board’s priorities and initiatives.
