Auburn man found unresponsive in car, faces felony charges

  • Staff Report

A man from Auburn is facing felony charges after being found unresponsive behind the wheel of a vehicle at an intersection in Sennett.

Gregory A. Ostrander, 36, was arrested on December 29 after Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive male at the intersection of Miller Road and Grant Avenue Road around 9:38 a.m.

Deputies arrived to find Ostrander slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle. After waking him and having him exit the vehicle, an investigation was conducted to determine if he was impaired. Ostrander was subsequently taken into custody and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (Felony) and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree (Felony).

The charges were elevated to felony status due to a prior conviction for DWAI drugs and the revocation of Ostrander’s driving privileges stemming from that conviction.

Ostrander was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sennett Court at a later date.
