An Ontario man was arrested Saturday afternoon following a domestic violence incident that left one victim injured and occurred in front of a juvenile child, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Luis Rodriguez, 47, of Ridge Road, was taken into custody after deputies responded to a domestic altercation. Authorities say Rodriguez was involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into physical violence, during which he allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat, nearly causing her to lose consciousness, and punched her in the face, leaving visible injuries.

Rodriguez then reportedly armed himself with a knife, causing the victim to fear for her safety. Deputies said the incident unfolded in the presence of the couple’s child. Rodriguez fled the scene on foot before being located and apprehended in Irondequoit.

He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, assault in the third degree, criminal obstruction of breathing, menacing in the third degree, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Rodriguez was transported to the Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) and was scheduled for arraignment on December 30 at 7 a.m. He will appear in Ontario Town Court at a later date for further proceedings.
