An Ithaca man was arrested Saturday night after allegedly threatening two people with a knife on West State Street, according to the Ithaca Police Department.

Elijah Pratt, 46, was taken into custody following a brief foot chase after officers responded to reports of a man menacing individuals with a knife around 8:48 p.m. on December 29. Police say Pratt discarded the weapon while fleeing before being apprehended less than a block away.

Authorities confirmed Pratt was identified by witnesses during a show-up identification process. He was charged with tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Pratt was arraigned in Ithaca City Court by Judge Peacock and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail without bail. Police noted that additional charges may follow as the investigation continues.
