Emergency crews from the Clyde-Galen Fire District responded to a significant water flow alarm at a local hotel this week after reports indicated water pouring from the ceiling of the building’s lobby breezeway.
Initial dispatch information suggested a false alarm after the alarm company contacted someone on-site. However, as crews proceeded to verify, they discovered heavy water flow upon arrival and immediately requested additional resources, including the Seneca County Codes Department and Rescue 16 with a dewatering trailer.
Supporting units were dispatched from Station 1. Firefighters worked alongside hotel maintenance and security teams to isolate the water source, secure the damaged area, and minimize further damage.
Emergency crews also collaborated with code enforcement officials to cut power and water to the affected section of the hotel while ensuring utilities were restored to the rest of the building. Once the issue was isolated, the damaged area was closed off until repairs could be completed.
Additional assistance was provided by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and Seneca County Codes.
The cause of the water flow remains under investigation, and the hotel management is expected to assess the full extent of the damage in the coming days.
Authorities have not reported any injuries related to the incident.
