Researchers develop groundbreaking therapy to reverse colon cancer cells

Scientists at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) have pioneered a revolutionary cancer therapy that transforms colon cancer cells back into normal-like cells instead of destroying them. This innovative method, led by Professor Kwang-Hyun Cho, aims to reduce side effects and the risk of recurrence often seen with traditional treatments.

Using a computational “digital twin” model, researchers mapped the gene networks controlling cell differentiation. They identified key molecular switches capable of reversing cancer cell transformation, a discovery validated through experiments and animal trials.

This breakthrough introduces the concept of reversible cancer therapy, potentially revolutionizing oncology by offering safer, more targeted treatments. Researchers hope to expand this technology to other cancer types, signaling a new era in cancer care.
