Micron has reached a key milestone in its plan to build a chip plant in Clay, submitting a preliminary Environmental Impact Statement for review just weeks after securing billions in federal CHIPS Act funding.
The report, developed with Onondaga County and federal agencies, details potential environmental impacts and strategies to minimize them. County Executive Ryan McMahon emphasized the submission as evidence of Micron’s dedication to the region.
The project remains on schedule, with construction expected to begin in November 2025.
