Following Ontario County’s decision to close its landfill by 2028, Casella Waste Systems issued a statement acknowledging the end of their two-decade partnership, according to The Finger Lakes Times.
Casella, which has managed the landfill since 2003, expressed gratitude to the county and highlighted its contributions, including reducing waste and improving recycling and energy infrastructure. The landfill is projected to reach capacity by Dec. 31, 2028.
The company assured customers it is ready to meet their needs post-closure but offered no additional details beyond the initial statement.
