The town of Scipio is considering a state grant to fund a boutique hotel, vineyard, and winery at the closed Emily Howland Elementary School site, according to The Auburn Citizen. A public hearing will take place Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the town office.
Developer Dr. Chris Colloca, of Colloca Estate Winery, is behind the project, which aligns with regional tourism goals. The 60,000-square-foot building has been unused since 2012.
If approved, the project will create up to 20 jobs and increase tax revenues.
