Steuben County landed 51st out of 62 counties in New York on SmartAsset’s ranking of the state’s wealthiest counties. The rankings considered median income, investment income, and home values.
Steuben’s median income is $60,755, with a median investment income of $23,809 and a median home value of $147,183. Among Southern Tier counties, Tioga County ranked highest at 34th, while Allegany County ranked lowest at 61st.
Though no Southern Tier counties broke into the state’s top 10 — dominated by counties near New York City — the rankings highlight the region’s economic standing within New York.
