Officials at the It’s a Wonderful Life Museum have raised $1,012,000 for the expansion of their facility at 32 Fall St. The museum, temporarily housed at 76 Fall St. with additional exhibits at 80 Fall St., aims to complete renovations by December 2026 — the 80th anniversary of the film’s premiere.
The project plans to restore the building’s original 1913 theater facade, add a 47-seat theater, and re-create iconic sets like Gower’s Drug Store and the Bailey family home. New interactive exhibits will highlight the film’s messages, including an anti-bullying display and a Zuzu petal station symbolizing hope. The expansion will also include updated lighting and technology.
The three-phase project began with structural repairs funded by a $912,000 state grant. Additional donations have totaled $90,000, with rare artifacts valued at $16,500. A commemorative calendar will be released in summer 2025 to support the project.
