New details have emerged regarding 30-year-old Richard Fluegel Jr., who is charged with murder, criminal use of a firearm, and evidence tampering in the death of his father, Richard Fluegel Sr., 60. Fluegel Sr. went missing on Sunday, December 8, and his son allegedly delivered his body to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office the following night.
Sheriff Thomas Dougherty reported that the crime scene is believed to be on Bonner Road in Ossian, where Fluegel Jr. was attempting to establish a marijuana operation. Authorities say Fluegel Jr. shot his father twice with a 12-gauge shotgun, wrapped his body in a tarp, and concealed it in his 2018 Audi. The vehicle was found in a Dansville parking lot on Monday.
Fluegel Jr.’s defense attorney, Brian DeCarolis, notified authorities from the sheriff’s office parking lot, where Fluegel Jr. awaited with his father’s body. Fluegel Jr., who has two prior felony convictions, remains in Livingston County Jail without bail and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
