  • Staff Report

Heather Petrus, who has spent her entire 24-year career at Cayuga Counseling Services, is stepping down as executive director on Dec. 27, according to The Citizen. Petrus joined the Auburn-based nonprofit in 2000 as a therapist and became executive director in 2012.

She will assume a new role in January, leading the Southside Community Services Board in Virginia.

During her tenure, Petrus oversaw significant growth, with the agency’s budget doubling to $7.2 million and new programs expanding services for around 7,000 people annually.

Petrus’ successor has been identified as Sarah VanDoren.
