Driver hurt after car collides with tree in icy conditions, Wayne deputies say

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

A driver was injured early Thursday morning when their vehicle slid off an icy road and struck a tree in the Town of Arcadia, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities identified the crash site as Arcadia Zurich Norris Road near Wunder Road. Deputies say the car, traveling southbound, lost control at approximately 5:45 a.m. due to weather-related conditions. The driver was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency responders.

Emergency medical personnel from Newark Arcadia EMS and firefighters from the Fairville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Deputies are urging drivers to exercise caution as winter weather creates hazardous conditions on area roadways.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
