Manhunt Intensifies After UnitedHealthcare CEO Is Killed in Midtown

A citywide manhunt is underway following the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in Midtown Manhattan. The 50-year-old executive was gunned down Wednesday morning outside the New York Hilton Midtown, where he was set to host an investor event. The shooter, described as calm and methodical, fled the scene on a bicycle.

Thompson, a prominent leader in the insurance industry, was struck multiple times, with the attack described by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch as a “brazen targeted act.” Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and analyzing a recovered cellphone for clues. Thompson had recently received threats, though their connection to the shooting remains unclear.

The incident shocked both the holiday-packed neighborhood and the corporate world. Thompson, known for his leadership and advocacy in health insurance, is survived by his wife and two children. The NYPD continues its search for the suspect as the investigation deepens.
